pocket dialing: brings families together since 1999
My Dad calls my cell phone at work. Dad never calls me at work. (In fact, he even balks at calling me on the weekends, on the off-chance I might be working. He doesn't want to upset the precarious balance of me being gainfully employed and not borrowing money from him.)

I can't answer it due to a client in the office, but I'm a little concerned, because Dad calling me during the work day would mean some sort of significant disaster, on the order of 1) One of your relatives is dying, 2) The house has burned down and we're moving in with you, 3) The DVD player has started putting Spanish subtitles on everything and I can't shut it off.

He calls again, two minutes later. (By now I'm thinking that maybe my mother has been abducted by aliens and my whole town has been swallowed up by an earthquake.)

Dad: "Did you just call me?"
Me: "No, you just called me."
Dad: "I know. I'm talking to you right now."
Me: "... no, no, you called me a minute ago."
Dad: "I did? Is that why your name was on my phone?"
Me: "... so no one's dead?"
Dad: "Nope. Wrong button. Go back to work, bye!"

... okay, it was funny to me, but maybe you had to be there. ;)

B5! Yay!

I started watching season 2 again yesterday, because I was jonesing for some B5. Sheridan is so unbelievably dorky in that season, I love it. He's all "OMG FRUIT!" and Ivanova's all "..." and Garibaldi's all "ZOMG ANGST!" and Sheridan is all "But... FRUIT!"

It's like Sheridan/fruit OTP.

Eeee! I'm finally about to watch B5 for real. I caught a few eps during the first run and a few more eps over time, but I'm finally getting the DVDs from a friend and plan to start from the beginning.

It's all due to my return to Scarecrow & Mrs. King love.

OMG! I remember when I first met you you were always at a friend's watching B5 and being generally bored by it... right?

Bring some stiff drinks with you for the first half of season 1. But do watch them -- they start giving you Big Important Clues in the first episode... it's just a little bit painful. :)

(And you're going to 'ship Talia and Garibaldi... RIGHT?)

Ha! Yes! You have a great memory. I just wasn't able to handle another at the time, so while my friends had marathon DVD weekends, I played on my computer, read books, or napped.

And yeah, I'll probably be a bit bored until John shows up. But I at least understand to pay attention because things have a habit of reconstituting later in the series. Very cool, that.

I will certainly keep T/G in mind as I begin to form ship-like thoughts. :^D

If I could just get you into Scarecrow & Mrs. King ... everlasting ship ... Heh.

Yep, it's definitely one to revisit every now and then. :) Funny thing is how I remember it being much better than it really is at times... like season 1. I have SO MUCH LOVE for Sinclair and Catherine Sakai and their adorable squeeeful cuteness and then I watch and am all "... okay, that was actually a little bit awkward."

*delights in B5 awesomeness*

Hee! Dad cute!

And I was once walking into my house and pocket-dialed the friend who was with me. We were both quite perplexed for a moment. Then much laughter ensued.

My Mom makes a ritual phone call to me every Sunday afternoon. So if I call her for any reason at any other time the first thing I have to say is, "Hi Ma. Nothing's wrong."

Heee! Aww, that's so cute. That's probably a good policy to implement. I will have to pass that along. ;)

Two phones ago, my phone had a really idiotic interface, and it was capable of unlocking itself and sending a blank text message to the first person in the phone book by just having the "1" button held down. So it repeatedly tried to send texts to my Aunt Audrey's landline!

My last and current phones are both the flippy kind, for exactly this reason. The only thing the current one can do in my bag is take pictures, which is harmless.

Yay for flip phones! And yes, I suppose they are actually useful, but I just like whipping them open and going "Sachi to Enterprise, COME IN ENTERPRISE!"

(This is totally an acceptable telephone greeting in the Little Red family.)
