potential doggie!
I have spent two years proving that I am grown up and saying "I want a DOOOGGGGGG!!"... and, um, I might get one now. :)

I wanted to wait until I had a house and a yard and get a really big dog, but after dog-sitting for Hollyboo (a friend's pug) for two weeks, I'm kind of in love with this 20-30 lb doggie range, and I fell ridiculously in love with pugs (they are SO CUTE even though they are SO UGLEEEE). Because I can have a smaller doggie in an apartment, and I may live in an apartment again someday... I mean, my life is probably going to change a lot in ways I can't even predict in the next 15 years, and especially in the next five, so a smaller/medium dog seems like it'll make a better lifelong companion. :) (I'll get the Shepherd/Dane mix once I've settled down, haha...)

And DOG LOVE! And I'm pretty much always in serious need of dog love. I mean, you people tell me "I love you!" but I'm crazy in the head, so I don't always believe you. (But doggies? Love you no matter HOW crazy in the head you are.)

So, um, I have filled out an application for this doggie from a rescue in the middle of Central Washington, but omfg, is she not SO REALLY CUTE?? (And she's a pug... but mixed with a lab, so it's totally like a real dog!)

She's poifect! Doggie wishes: at least a year old, short hair, full of love & cuddles, likes the car so will go adventuring with me, not a hunting/terrier dog so it doesn't eat the rats. :)

So, yah, I may still come to my senses, or the rescue may find someone else before I can get out to freaking Yakima, WA, but I'm kind of excited. Portland is such a dog-friendly city, and I am a dog person. And I live in Portland. Therefore, Sachi = needs dog.

Kaya? You can show Mom the pictures but don't say I applied because, um, she'll sort of panic that I'm ruining my life. I'm going to break it to them gently if I get a doggie. Like, maybe in five years.

I love pets!! And I really miss having a dog. My sister's on board with it now, too. Yay!

She's beautiful. Good luck!

Thanks! I've done all my homework and gotten apartment approval and picked a vet and contacted my references... so, um, now I just need to wait for the rescue to contact me again. *twiddles thumbs*

OMG that's so cool! I'm such a dog person.:) For all the trouble they are, they just make your life better, ya know? We have a lab right now, but for our next dog we're seriously debating a pug.:) I adore them.

Good luck!!:)
Little Red: gleee! - nenyamylittleredgirl on September 24th, 2007 07:10 pm (UTC)
Yes! Totally. It changes your life, but in a good way! You meet totally different people and there's always someone loving to cuddle with you. :)

I loooooooove big dogs, but a dog less than 25 lbs is probably a better companion until I settle down. And I've gotten over the part where I'm embarrassed to walk small dogs on a leash. ;)
.mizz_magenta on September 23rd, 2007 01:20 am (UTC)
Aw, CUTENESS! I've always wanted a dog but mum has always said no. So I said the first thing I buy when I get my own place is a dog. And then a microwave, lol.
Little Redmylittleredgirl on September 24th, 2007 07:11 pm (UTC)
Hahaha, yes. And a toaster!

Okay, I am totally not a dog person (I like cats but am badly allergic), but that is such a cute little dog!
Little Redmylittleredgirl on September 24th, 2007 07:12 pm (UTC)
I looooove dogs. I also looooove cats, but I am deathly allergic as well, so, doggy it is! Somehow, a small dog is a compromise between dog and cat...?
rogue equestrian: Randelvinborn on September 23rd, 2007 01:32 am (UTC)
I adore pugs. Whatever that dog is, she's got the cute part of the pug without too much of the ugly. Awesome! Seriously cute! :)
Little Redmylittleredgirl on September 24th, 2007 07:13 pm (UTC)
Pugs are seriously evidence of the fine line between cute and ugly. I don't even understand it. But they're so full of loooooove!

Since she's an unknown mix, I really hope it's lab... because if she's part terrier, she'll probably want to chase the rats. :-/

I moved all the heavy furniture over to my condo today and I'm moving all the rest next week. Then I will go looking for my kitten.

I would get a corgi, but I'm a single woman who works irregular hours, so I think a cat works better. Maybe two.
Little Redmylittleredgirl on September 24th, 2007 07:14 pm (UTC)
Kitttteeeeenn!!! OMG. My sister would LOVE to get a cat, but it would probably kill me within a week, so, sadly, no kitty.

Corgis are such funny dogs! I had a boyfriend in middle school with two Corgis. I had a big Shepherd mix at the time who could not figure these dogs out for the life of her. Whenever the corgis would get excited they'd wag their tails so hard they'd fall off the couch.

CUTE! It's great that you are rescuing one from an animal shelter rather than buying it from a store.
Little Red: aw - cj/d *hugz* - natushkamylittleredgirl on September 24th, 2007 07:16 pm (UTC)
Oh, totally! I love animal rescues, I love mutts, and I love dogs who are at least a year old. (Puppies are soooo cuuuute, but, um, I'm scared of the responsibility it takes to raise and train one.)

Just gorgeous! Good luck! I love doggies! I want one. *pouts*

Isn't she a cutie? She looks so HAPPY! Truth is, I'm always drawn to dogs that are withdrawn and have reallly sad eyes... but... omg, the happy of this dog is contagious.

Aw! Cute dog!! Most pug mixes, IMO, look weird but she's really cute. I'd love to have a dog, but like you, I'd prefer to have a house if I have one. Plus I'm lazy. That's why I have cats. ;)
Little Redmylittleredgirl on September 24th, 2007 07:19 pm (UTC)
Haha, I've known a lot of really cute pug mixes... and they all sort of look less weird than purebred pugs!

I'm not too lazy for a dog, I don't think. As long as the dog likes to cuddle in front of the TV, that is. ;)

Yes! Certain rescues have great pepole writing their ad copy, others not so much. :)

A Schnauzer-Poo! A Schnoodle! Ahahaha, that mst be so super cute.

Awww, I hope you can replace your imaginary dog with a real one someday. :)

YAY!!

potential doggieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! she's adorable! (and i don't even like pugs!)
Little Redmylittleredgirl on September 24th, 2007 07:21 pm (UTC)
OMG. I SO did not like pugs until just recently, because we pug-sat for the cutest. dog. EVER. She was so well-trained and so nice and sooooo loving and just the cuddliest thing ever. She single-handedly convinced me to like small dogs. CRAZY, I tell you.

Um. You know, your parents may already be reading your blog :) I had to quickly re-judge all my entries when my parents discovered mine...
Little Red: ethermylittleredgirl on September 24th, 2007 07:07 pm (UTC)
I'd love it if my parents read my blog! :) I think they'd enjoy it.

However, they really don't, unless I send them a specific link, or alosersdream, my ashram-sister who works with my mom, shows her an entry.

It's possible they don't read it because they're a little unnerved by all the porn I write (although they've actually read some of it and offered critique... that was an awkward family breakfast). More likely, though, they just have more exciting things to do than be nosy. ;)

Cute in an ugly sort of way! If you don't get this one, you should look at terriers as well, especially the cairn/norfolk/norwich group... they are so cute and have THE BEST personalities.
Little Red: rats in frocks - semyazamylittleredgirl on September 24th, 2007 09:44 pm (UTC)
I can't get any of ther Terrier breeds because those are bred to be ratters and we have rats that we like alive. :)

Also, haven't you heard? Ugly is so the new cute. :-P
