OH MY GOD!!!
THE RED SOX WIN THE PENNANT!! THE RED SOX WIN THE PENNANT!!!!!!!

... I don't think I breathed at all until the last out was recorded. That is what paranoia of heartbreak and respect for the Yankees offense will do to you.

ohmygodworldseries.

And *SO* much Kappa love!!! LOVE!!!

The thing is -- I agree. The oweness was on the Yankees to bring it tonight, and they are not used to that. The Yankee fans are even LESS used to that, and were taken out of it for a lot of the game.

However, Red Sox fans are rightfully paranoid of heartbreak and fearful of the amazing Yankee offense.

If the score had been reversed, Yanks 8-3 in the middle innings? The Yankee fans would have been calm and confident, and the Red Sox fans would STILL have been praying and chewing their fingers and jumping up and down with frantic hope.

Didn't you panic when they scored ONE run? Never mind the lead. This is the Yankees. This is history. We're not taking chances.

The Yankees being taken out of it and us still being paranoid seem to fit well together in my mind.

I am, in fact, still a little afraid that a call will be reversed and the pennant will be SUDDENLY YANKED AWAY just like that... *looks around nervously*

redsoxicons have made me SO HAPPY this past month. I totally had to buy extra icon space for the post-season.

*clings to pennant*

PENNANT! RED SOX!!! I'm not clear on how I could have so much faith all year and now be so confused. AMAZINGLY JOYFUL, but joyfully surprised :)

It really did get quiet in Yankee Stadium. I felt bad for the Yankee fans for a bit there. And then went "Wait, this is totally character-building."

OMG!! Omg. AMAZING.

This is incredible. I'm... a little rattled, not having just had my heart broken, in fact!!

I will get used to it. GO SOX IN THE WORLD SERIES!!!!

Y'know, the Sox / Yankee series was amazing to watch. Games four, five and six were stunning--if not long. It's friggin' history and I'm not a huge baseball fan.

But damn, what a great series. : )

YES. YAY!!!

I am so, so glad we came out on the winning side of this, but I am also so very grateful to have gotten to watch this team that I have followed and loved so much all year get to play like this on this stage.

And now on the World Series stage!!! eeee!

*happy*

I thought of you when I saw the final score.

Well, you and all of Boston, which I inagine is rather psycotic at the moment.

If somebody's gotta win, it might as well be the red socks (luke warm hope, but hope none the less.)
Little Red: gleee! - nenyamylittleredgirl on October 21st, 2004 07:02 pm (UTC)
Boston *rioted* insanely last night. OMG. I so wanted to go somewhere and riot, but I realized when my friends called and went "OH MY GOD LET'S DRIVE TO BOSTON!!" that that was a phenomenally BAD idea. You know, to make a 3 hour drive on the roads with people this drunk and crazy...

But SO MUCH HAPPY!! I rioted in my living room.

THEY WONE, THEY WON, THEY WON!

I have to confess I was pessimistic the whole time. I kept hoping, but I mean, these are the Sox. They have blown it so many times in the past. But when I saw how much of a lead they got right from the beginning...no, I was still nervous. Even nervous with Lowe on the mound (who did a fanastic job, btw). I started to feel like, wow, they could do this...Then Pedro came out and I love him, but I got so nervous and left the room then. Then I came back to watch them win it. I am NOT satsified until I see them jumping about.

My brother was done at fenway celebrating for us all :)

I have to confess I was pessimistic the whole time. I kept hoping, but I mean, these are the Sox.

And those are the Yankees. And this was me tearing chunks of fabric off my couch and biting holes in my hands because I was just SO TENSE. No lead is safe from the Yankees. We are paranoid and most skeered.

I am NOT satsified until I see them jumping about.

I must admit that even then I was somehow worried this would turn around and go badly somehow. BUT NO!!! It is tomorrow and WE WON THE PENNANT!!!

YAY!!!!!

*happy gleee*

EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
THE FIRST THING I asked the conductor on the train this morning, after stumbling blindly through the coffee shop shedding money (I'm not clear on how much) and acquiring Pepsi and water, was "WHO WON!?"

I did the huge stupid happy grin and mainlined my Pepsi.

*GLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!*

And if Houston wins tonight, it will be *my* hometown team vs. *your* hometown team.

Which I didn't even know was a possibility until this week...

... and would cause me some distress if I actually cared about baseball :P

But, YAY! for the Sox
GOOD LUCK! to the 'stros
And I'LL ONLY WATCH IF ASTROS VS SOX GOES TO GAME 7

fair-weather fan that I am. heh

I was SOOo happy when I read that. The Yankees train in Tampa and I'm SO sick of hearing about them non-stop, esp. around the start of the season. Excellent job to the Sox and I hope they go all the way!
Little Red: varitek believe - meg142mylittleredgirl on October 22nd, 2004 01:40 am (UTC)
YAY!!! *cheers*

And that SUCKS that you have to hear about Yanks all the time when you have YOUR OWN TEAM!!

And... shows how much *I* know, I thought all the teams had Spring Training around Tampa...

All the way!! THIS IS OUR YEAR!! *taps wood and does superstitious things so as not to jinx it*
Melodypellmelody on October 22nd, 2004 03:18 am (UTC)
Well, since the Devil Rays suck ass, the Yankees are pretty much all the talk. :/ I'm a Braves fan from WAY back so I was disappointed they lost out this year. Oh well. Very glad for the Sox and I'll be cheering for them.
Little Red: varitek believe - meg142mylittleredgirl on October 22nd, 2004 04:50 am (UTC)
The Devil Rays do kind of suck :( Hopefully that's just temporary...

SO frustrating about the Braves. Argh. But y'all do win the division every year, so there is that...

GO SOX!!! Yay :)

*does crazy grinning excited thing*

I saw someone wearing a Boston jersey today and I literally screamed "GO BOSTON!!" in the middle of my workplace.
Wolfegreywords on October 23rd, 2004 08:27 pm (UTC)
I had a lot of fun reading up on the wild Boston celebratory car-flip and windhshield smashing on The Boston Globe the next day. One quote from the commentators on Fox (... I had to watch Fox to get the game.... got to go wash my hands or something...) was, "No one says it's only a game when you're winning." Not quite true, sir. When the Yankees scored their first run, I was definitely telling myself it was only a game and it was okay either way.

Be that as it may, of course, there is much Boston love in my head. Woohoo!
