the cursing of the brain drugs, continued
*shakes fist at the sky*

Seriously, where on the warning labels does it say will destroy your ability to properly deduce the emotional states of fictional characters and everybody will wind up sounding like they are on Days Of Their Lives?

I'm not saying it doesn't beat suicide, I'm just saying that John is probably going to sue me for defamation of character.

(On the upside, I am writing something!)

(p.s. and omg, I have bought Season 1 of The X-Files. BABY SCULLY WHO DOESN'T KNOW WHAT SHE'S IN FOR!! OMG, the cuteness. And she had, like, a life and stuff in the original cuts, which just completely changes her character.)

It comes back. It just takes a little more work.

I hate work!

Yeah, I guess you're right. It sort of feels like it did when I was writing at age... thirteen, or something, before I got how to listen to characters' turns of phrase. Hrm. Maybe I'll have to learn to edit, or something.
thekatebeyond on May 30th, 2006 01:10 am (UTC)
When I get like that, I write for theme first, then go back and edit for voice.

Yay, X-Files! Oooh, writing something! Also, brain drugs do weird things, don't they? I eagerly await the day when they invent some sort of pill that does just what it should with no extra weirdness added.

I am being particularly bad about commenting lately (ie mostly only doing it in my head (which really doesn't work, in case you were wondering)) but wanted to tell you that you are on my mind in the last couple of days. Like, randomly when I'm doing the dishes and stuff. I think my brain is trying to tell me something. (Which I should think is probably "stop writing imaginary comments to Little Red and write real ones, you moron.")

SERIOUSLY!! I don't get brain-drugs sometimes. Like how one can just make your skin itch constantly, or make everything look orange... the whole science seems a little haphazard for my taste!

And *HUGS YOUUU!* I am so awful at even reading LJ these days, that there is never any need to apologize for LJ-badness to me. :( Stupid work! Oy. Life is becoming a little scary and much these days. Imaginary comments are almost as good!

I was thinking lots about you the other day when I was back at home, because I showed my parents the pretty pictures you took in Montreal, and they were all "oooh! artsy!" about one or two of them, and I was all "she doesn't even look through the camera lens!" and you are most cool.

I forget how to do the infini!sign! Or I would give you infinilove. :)

Well, skin itching sounds like an allergy. I had that happen with the narcotic they gave me when I got my wisdom teeth out.

Seeing everything in orange is just weird though. Maybe you should take Viagra, and then the seeing orange and seeing blue will cancel out!

But yeah, people don't really know as much about the brain - nevermind mind/brain interactions - as they'd like to think they do. Makes getting medications right a bit of a crapshoot, and even when they're "right" there are often still some side effects - I still have the thing where I have no sex drive. It's better than being crazy/suicidal, though, so we just gots to put up with it (and curse at the drug companies in the meantime).

Word on the sex drive, which is at least partly responsible for my inability to write porn.

The orange-seeing isn't me -- that was someone else I know. Still incredibly weird.

I went through a phase of having my arms and legs shaking uncontrollably, which was insanely annoying but "totally not dangerous!" according to my shrink, so, yes. I futzed with the balance of meds and it seemed to help. Now I just get insanely agitated all day if I don't take my meds within an hour of when I'm supposed to.

Wheeeee side effects!

zomg! Why resist?

Will Mulder and Scully be investimagating her??
Melyanna: Elizabeth (politician)melyanna on May 29th, 2006 10:31 pm (UTC)
It has been SO LONG since I saw X-Files that Mulder and Scully really would sue me for defamation of character if I attempted to write.

The story that's forming in my head is basically young(er) Lizzie being used by the CIA to get one of their agents in to take down a drug cartel in South America or something. Technically it's west_gate, but I think it'll stand as an independent story by the end. It'll be almost entirely Atlantis, with all the CIA stuff as flashbacks within a larger story. (And there's Major Dimples. Which is always a plus.)

Little Redmylittleredgirl on May 30th, 2006 12:04 am (UTC)
See, it sounds funny when you say it! Perhaps I should give in and just have Elizabeth discover that John is actually someone surgically made up to look like John's twin brother, but who had amnesia, and who fell in love with her because he's under a spell of a witch who wants to get back at Elizabeth for stealing the family fortune!

Bweee! X-Files Season One! Mulder and Scully are just so utterly *adorable* in the first season, don't you think? You're making me want to go and watch my XF Season One DVDs!

hey, are you making fun of my soap opera?!?! (not that you would be WRONG to make fun of my soap, mind you. I do it all the time - and still go right on watching it!) though, really what's wrong with funny SGA the soap opera fic? *grins*

OMG, I feel your pain. I was trying to write an Ezri romance the other night (OMGLEZBIANMARYSUE!!1--uh, don't ask) and the dialogue was really, really pitiful. And I don't have any excuse at all. ;_; Bah.

And--SCULLY. <3 I've only ever seen, like, the first season on tapes from the video store, so OMGSCULLY!
