DORK!
So at work, I just told everyone that I am SCARED THAT I AM GOING TO DIE IN SURGERY TOMORROW because omg, they will stick a TUBE down my throat and I HATE that and someone says they have to PARALYZE YOUR LUNGS and and...

Coworker: "They don't stick a tube down your throat for general anesthesia."
Me: *pauses semi-hysterical tirade* "What?"
Other coworker: "Yeah, dude, they just stick you with an IV. You still breathe on your own."
Me: "... Oh. Well, I guess I'm okay then."

Anyway, my day has improved, liek, a hundred-fold now that I no longer need to call everyone I've ever known and Make Peace with them before having my LUNGS PARALYZED tomorrow. I have zero fear of needles (aha! I saw like half of you twitch), so if that's all there is, I'm chill.

Comment-spam, especially in ficlet form would be most welcome! However, if any of you send me links about how many people actually die from oral surgery, I will HAUNT YOU FROM THE GRAVE, OMG, AND NOT IN THAT FUN PATRICK SWAYZE WAY.

p.s. Surgery scheduled for 9 AM tomorrow. Please disregard all LJ posts made from then until, liek, Saturday, because they will probably consist of me waxing on about the meaning of life to be found in a croissant, or something equally deep. (See... there's LIFE... and it's all... like rolled around itself... and if you just leave it on the counter it gets all CRUSTY...)

She is worried something because of nerves being in the way, or something. I think that's probably the case with all impacted wisdom teeth, just given where they are, but she was all "omg, you might have NO FEELING in your lips after!" and I was all "!!!" and she's all "Don't worry, you won't be drooling, you won't lose any mobility..." and I'm all thinking I should run out and make out with SIXTEEN PEOPLE right then just in case I lose all make-out feeling. ;)

Well? Get over here then! ;)

I wasn't going to mention this because you were so freaked out, but I did have nerve damage from my extraction. A small part of my face (about the width of two fingers), under my lip on the far edge of my mouth, never has recovered full sensation after the procedure. Of course, this is so unnoticable I literally had to be whacked in the face to figure out "Hey, that didn't hurt as much on that side..."

TMI explanation The roots of my teeth on the one side were curved like a hook around the nerve canal. When they pulled the roots out, they scraped over the nerve and caused some damage < /EndTMIexplanation>

And no, I'm not walking around with drool coming down my face or anything skeery like that. But my procedure had multiple complications (the small mouth, an unusually large jaw bone that was in the way, both teeth were impacted with one almost growing in sideways, the roots were abnormally long and curved, etc.) that all added up to it.
