Not the first time Dan Shaughnessy and I have disagreed.
The infamous Globe columnist and professional Boston sports buzzkill has declared that it is "Just no fun beating these New York Yankees anymore."

I beg to differ, Dan Shaughnessy.

And by that I mean, 8-0 in the season series, GLEE effing E!!!

I'm pretty sure this doesn't make me a bad person.

I think I'd feel really odd going to a wedding of two people I've never met! I don't want to leave you friend-less there if you don't know other peeps at the wedding, so I can be your emergency backup guest perhaps? I don't know, I just think I'd feel odd. :)

*pounces on you* You're coming to Portland! I can seeee youuuu! :)

Hey--here to get all non-sports spammy! ;)

Long time, no hear, sista!!

Uh...did you get my email about a possible contribution to my zine? 'Cause, like...I'd love to keep pestering you about that.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled lj post...

Zomg I fail at life!! :) I couldn't decide if I wanted to sign up for something like that (zines! they are scary! and permanent! and have politicking sometimes! also, you have DEADLINES!) so I just completely ignored you, because I am a total heel! *eeps*

We must have flaily chatting and you can tell me more about your zine and perhaps I will get unscared?

Any more Harrison Ford news? ;)

Nuttin' to be scurd about, since I'm the head lunatic of this particular asylum.

Yes, we must have much flaily discussion!

HF--seeing him tomorrow, going mostly ok, but a little wrench thrown into the works. Will fill you in!

I dunno…
Granted, I'm no longer following the Red Sox quite as obsessively as I once did, so I didn't see the game itself.

You know what it is, though? I'm not angry anymore. Until 2004, I was ALWAYS ANGRY at the Yankees. I hated them with a burning, searing passion, and after the 12-inning Game 7 loss in the ACLS in 2003--I walked around with the defeated slump of one who *knows* that the Red Sox will always lose. So the sweet, sweet revenge of the 2004 ACLS--coming back from 3 games to NOTHING, with the first two Sox wins coming in extra innings--was too sweet to be believed. And the Series capped it.

And then...the Red Sox won again in 2007, silencing forever the Yankee cries of "wait another 86 years."

And now I can afford to the benevolence of a fan of a greater team looking down at a lesser team. They haven't won a series since 1999. Meanwhile, the Red Sox have won two. As long as the Sox pick up one more in the next few years, and the Yankees don't win the series ever again, I'll be satisfied.

Hmmm. Maybe there is still some satisfaction after all.
